Manuel Knoll appointed Bavarian Minister for Youth and Democracy

Manuel Knoll has been appointed as the new Bavarian State Minister for Youth and Democracy. The 36-year-old, who previously served as the state chairman of the Junge Union, joins the cabinet of Minister-President Markus Söder.

The creation of this new ministerial role follows concerns regarding the high approval ratings of extremist parties, such as the AfD and Die Linke, among younger demographics. While the position currently lacks a specific budget or established program, Knoll intends to act as an advocate for future generations. He has stated that politics must be conducted in a way that restores the trust of young people in the political center and suggested that Bavarian laws should be examined for their impact on youth before being passed.

Knoll's appointment follows a period of internal friction within the Junge Union regarding Söder's leadership style. He is expected to maintain a strong presence at public events and on social media to fulfill the objectives of his new role.
