Manuel Pellegrini returns to Alcorcón for Copa del Rey match

Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini is set to return to the Santo Domingo stadium in Alcorcón for a Copa del Rey first-round match against Navalcarnero. This visit marks a significant return to the venue where Pellegrini experienced the 'Alcorconazo' in 2009, a historic match in which his Real Madrid side suffered a 4-0 defeat against Alcorcón while the latter was in the Spanish second division (Segunda División B).

Due to capacity limitations at Navalcarnero’s Mariano González stadium, the match will be held in Alcorcón to accommodate fans and club members. While the event revisits a major moment from Pellegrini’s career, the manager has expressed that the past defeat is part of his history but does not define his professional trajectory.
