Manuel Velasco signals PVEM support for García Harfuch in 2030
Manuel Velasco Coello, the coordinator of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) in the Senate, has expressed early support for Omar García Harfuch for the 2030 presidential election. Velasco compared the current Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection to the popular Mexican icon Pedro Infante, citing Harfuch’s high level of public popularity and his results in combating organized crime.
Velasco noted that while Harfuch belongs to the Morena party, the PVEM would be willing to support him if he decides to run in 2030. The senator emphasized that a strong individual candidate can often carry more weight than a political party structure. He pointed to recent polls showing Harfuch in leading positions as evidence of his electoral potential.
Although Velasco’s comments are several years ahead of the actual election cycle, they signal potential future alliances. Harfuch has previously received support from the PVEM during his campaigns for the Mexico City Head of Government and the Senate. For his part, Harfuch has not expressed formal presidential ambitions and remains focused on his current security duties.
