Manuel Zelaya returns to Honduras after medical treatment in Mexico

Former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya Rosales has returned to Honduras after receiving specialized medical treatment in Mexico for pericardial effusion, a condition involving fluid accumulation around the heart.

Upon his arrival, Zelaya clarified that while he has been medically discharged, he is not fully recovered. He expects to undergo a continuous medical treatment process in Honduras that could last approximately one to two years.

Despite his health condition, Zelaya announced his intention to resume his responsibilities as the general coordinator of the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party. He noted that he will reintegrate into political activities gradually and expressed appreciation for Rixi Moncada, who served as sub-coordinator during his absence.
