Manuela Loaiza wins bronze in UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships

Colombian cyclist Manuela Loaiza Zabala won the bronze medal in the sprint event at the UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships held in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.

Loaiza secured her place on the podium by defeating Great Britain's Eve James in two consecutive heats, avoiding a third tie-breaker race. In her first heat for third place, she recorded a time of 11.785 seconds with an average speed of 61.094 km/h. She followed this with a second performance of 11.441 seconds at 62.931 km/h.

Her path to the medal included a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter flying start qualifying round, a victory over Barbados' Arielle Greaves in the round of 16, and a three-heat battle against Czechia's Emílie Jarošová in the quarterfinals. Although she lost to Veronika Solozobova in the semifinals, Loaiza successfully rebounded to claim the bronze.
