Manufacturing companies shift focus to product-level carbon footprint measurement

Manufacturing companies are increasingly shifting their focus from measuring total corporate emissions to calculating the Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP). This transition is driven by growing demands from customers, buyers, and evolving European market regulations.

Because different products from the same facility can have vastly different environmental impacts due to variations in raw materials, energy consumption, supply chains, and packaging, measuring individual items provides a more granular view of climate impact. This process often follows the ISO 14067 international standard, which utilizes a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach. This method quantifies greenhouse gas emissions across various stages, including raw material extraction, production, distribution, usage, and end-of-life disposal.
