Manufacturing sector sees rising AI integration in hardware and design

At a Cybozu-hosted seminar, industry expert Monozukuri Taro and Cybozu's Kentaro Minamizaki discussed the increasing integration of AI within the global manufacturing sector. Taro noted that AI is becoming a fundamental component of industrial hardware, with AI agents being embedded into CAD software, industrial PCs (IPCs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Key technological trends highlighted include the use of natural language to control semiconductor manufacturing equipment, as seen with Beckhoff Automation, and the integration of AI across design, tool management, and CNC programming through collaborations like those between SAP and DMG Mori.

Furthermore, the discussion emphasized the role of NVIDIA's video search and summarization technology in analyzing worker movements and quality inspections. Experts stressed that for manufacturers to successfully adopt these advancements, they must prioritize organizing and preparing their operational data to be usable by AI systems.
