Manyara Tanzanite Marathon raises funds for premature infants

The Manyara Tanzanite Marathon was held in Babati, Manyara Region, to raise funds for the care of premature infants. Organizers set a target of 1.5 billion Tanzanian Shillings to fund the construction and equipping of a specialized ward dedicated to treating babies born prematurely.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Daniel Sillo, representing the Prime Minister, commended the Manyara regional leadership for the initiative. He noted that using sporting events to mobilize community support for healthcare is an innovative model that should be emulated in other parts of the country.

Other officials, including Deputy Minister for TAMISEMI Jafari Rajabu and Manyara Regional Commissioner Queen Sendiga, emphasized the importance of stakeholder participation in improving neonatal health services. Participants joined the marathon to support the cause of saving infant lives while promoting physical fitness.
