Mao Daniel A. Colón School of Fine Arts opens in Valverde

The Mao Daniel A. Colón School of Fine Arts has officially opened in Mao, Valverde province. Located within the José Francisco Peña Gómez Municipal Culture Center, the school was inaugurated by Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo.

Salcedo stated that the opening is part of a cultural decentralization policy intended to bring artistic training and opportunities to children and youth in various provinces, reducing the need for students to travel to Santo Domingo or Santiago. The initiative operates in coordination with the Mao Municipal Council to foster local talent and artistic discovery.

The ceremony included officials such as Marinella Sallent, Director General of Fine Arts, provincial governor Marta Collado, and Mayor Yohendy Jiménez. The event concluded with a musical performance by students from the Mao Municipal Band of Musicians.
