Małopolska harvest festivals face KAS tax inspections and fines

Officers from the National Revenue Administration (KAS) conducted inspections during harvest festivals (dożynki) in several towns across the Małopolska region of Poland. The checks focused on whether the sale of local specialties was being correctly recorded on fiscal cash registers.

In Przeginia, three fines were issued ranging from 600 to 1,500 PLN. In Bukowska Wola, the total value of fines reached 7,500 PLN, with the highest single penalty amounting to 3,000 PLN. Those penalized included a vineyard owner, an amusement park operator, and members of rural women's circles (Koła Gospodyń Wiejskich).

In the Racławice municipality, the mayor, Janusz Kozioł, and his deputy reportedly paid fines on behalf of the rural women's circles from their own private funds. The mayor noted that the women were representing the municipality rather than seeking profit. Local officials have expressed concern that such strict enforcement and the risk of financial penalties may discourage residents and community organizations from participating in local cultural events in the future.
