Małopolska region expands drone and defense technology initiatives
The Małopolska region in Poland is strengthening its position in drone technology and dual-use solutions through a new strategic alliance. A partnership has been formed between the Małopolska Voivodeship, three Krakow-based universities—AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow University of Technology, and Krakow University of Agriculture—the Krakow Technology Park, and the Małopolska Regional Development Agency.
Signed during the Krynica Forum 2026, the agreement aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and economic needs. The collaboration focuses on developing technologies that serve both civilian and military purposes, such as infrastructure monitoring, landslide research, and environmental observation. The initiative seeks to foster research and development projects and support businesses utilizing these advancements.
In a separate local development, the Volunteer Fire Department in Borzęcin Duży has received a drone equipped with a camera and speaker to enhance emergency response capabilities. This equipment, funded through the Population Protection Program 2025–2026, will assist in searching for missing persons, monitoring large-scale fires, and communicating with people in danger zones.
