Maoz Inon advocates for peace following Hamas attack on parents
Israeli author and peace activist Maoz Inon is advocating for reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians following the loss of his parents during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Inon, who has shared his message with the UN Security Council, emphasizes that grief should not be used as a justification for war or a cycle of revenge.
Inon and Palestinian Aziz Abu Sarah co-authored a book titled ‘The Future Means Peace’, which promotes justice and reconciliation. This activism stands in contrast to the political stance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has focused on military retaliation.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical. Despite a ceasefire being in effect since October 10, 2025, fighting continues, resulting in ongoing casualties. Over 1.7 million people in the Gaza Strip are living in makeshift shelters, facing severe shortages of clean water, food, medical supplies, and electricity.
