Mapúa Education Group launches Philippines' first AI Fluency Strategy
The Mapúa Education Group announced the Philippines’ first institution‑wide AI Fluency Strategy, to be rolled out across Mapúa University, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao and Mapúa Malayan Digital College starting the 2026‑27 academic year. Developed with Arizona State University, the plan integrates AI competencies throughout curricula via a four‑layer framework—AI for All, AI in the Discipline, AI for Learning and Advanced AI Pathways—and introduces process‑based assessment categories (AI‑prohibited, AI‑assisted, AI‑integrated). Faculty will receive continuous development through a new AI Teaching Commons, and students can earn stackable micro‑credentials aligned with industry needs.
Separately, researchers from Illinois State University, Auburn University and the University of Missouri reported on an AI‑literacy toolkit for fashion merchandising education. Implemented in three U.S. courses and evaluated through 195 student reflection papers, the toolkit—grounded in Bloom’s Taxonomy and IDEO’s design‑thinking framework—enhanced higher‑order cognitive skills and emphasized a “human‑in‑the‑loop” approach for responsible AI use.
