Mapei acquires Polish waterproofing specialist Werner Janikowo

Italian chemical company for construction, Mapei, has acquired Werner Janikowo, a Polish specialist in waterproofing membranes and roofing systems. Founded in 2003 and based in Kęszyca Leśna, Werner Janikowo is recognized in the Polish market for its innovative bituminous waterproofing membranes, including heat-sealable and self-adhesive systems.

The acquisition includes Werner Janikowo’s offices and modern production plant, which will be integrated into Mapei’s industrial network. CEOs Veronica Squinzi and Marco Squinzi stated that the move strengthens Mapei’s position in Poland, where the group has operated for over 25 years, and supports its broader European growth strategy.

Mapei aims to capitalize on the growing Polish construction market, which is projected to reach $130 billion by 2031 with an average annual growth rate of 5.5%. Mapei Polska, established in 2000, currently employs nearly 600 people across three production sites in Gliwice, Barcin, and Kutna, with commercial offices in Warsaw.
