Maple Ridge road blocked after truck spills lumber load

A major thoroughfare in Maple Ridge was blocked on Monday morning after a flat-bed truck and trailer overturned while attempting an eastbound turn onto Lougheed Highway. The incident caused a load of lumber to spill across the road, with debris striking a passenger vehicle.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The Maple Ridge RCMP issued multiple Motor Vehicle Act violations to the truck driver for having an insecure load and prohibited the vehicle from being driven until it passes a comprehensive inspection. City crews were deployed to clear the debris, and eastbound Dewdney Trunk Road remained closed for several hours.
