Maple Ridge shooting investigation transferred to IHIT after victim's death
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has assumed leadership of an investigation into a shooting in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, after the victim succumbed to his injuries.
On August 18, at approximately 10 p.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to the 11400 block of 236 Street, where they discovered a 56-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition but died on August 31.
Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted incident involving individuals known to one another. IHIT is currently collaborating with the Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crime Unit, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service to determine the circumstances of the death.
