MAPPA CEO analyzes the global success of Demon Slayer

Manabu Otsuka, CEO of animation studio MAPPA, has attributed the global success of the Demon Slayer franchise to its broad appeal across all age groups. Otsuka noted that while other modern hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man are driven by the specific tastes and 'youthful energy' of creators in their 20s and 30s, Demon Slayer manages to capture a wider demographic.

Regarding the upcoming Infinity Castle trilogy, the adaptation of the manga's intense final arc by studio Ufotable continues to be a major point of discussion. While the film format has driven historic box office success, some critiques suggest that the continuous, high-intensity battle sequences characteristic of the Infinity Castle arc may benefit more from the pacing of a standard television series rather than a film trilogy.
