Maputo companies owe INSS 41.7 million euros
Approximately 32,000 companies in Maputo owe the National Social Security Institute (INSS) roughly 3 billion meticais, which is equivalent to 41.7 million euros.
During the first half of 2026, the institution collected 480 million meticais (6.6 million euros) in contributions. Hortência Banze, the INSS delegate in Maputo, stated that the organization is adopting a pedagogical approach rather than a punitive one. The goal is to provide guidance to companies to prevent them from falling into irregular status and to ensure compliance with contributory obligations.
