Mar Amigo Sail Racing triumphs at XIX Regata Amigos de la Vela in Cádiz Bay

On 27 June 2026, the Swan 42 ‘Mar Amigo Sail Racing’ owned by Basilio Marquínez won the XIX Regata Amigos de la Vela, Avante Canasta, held in the waters of the Bay of Cádiz. The race was organized by the Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María with support from the municipal council and the Andalusian Sailing Federation.

Thirteen boats competed in ORC and Reduced‑Crew classes under light westerly winds that rose from five to twelve knots. ‘Mar Amigo Sail Racing’ crossed the finish line first and, after time compensation, secured victory by roughly three minutes ahead of the Corel 45 ‘Sirius’ from the Cádiz Regatta Commission. The ORC B division was won by Dufour 40 ‘UMA’, while the Reduced‑Crew class was topped by Brenta 24 ‘Estero Blanco’. A traditional marine‑food luncheon and trophy ceremony concluded the event.

The regatta, sponsored by Williams & Humbert’s Avante Canasta brand and backed by Cruzcampo, is a recurring fixture in the Andalusian sailing calendar, bringing together a significant portion of the local cruising fleet.
