Mar del Plata exports 4,200 tons of frozen fish to Cameroon

The Port of Mar del Plata is managing a major foreign trade operation involving the shipment of over 4,200 tons of frozen fish to Douala, Cameroon. The cargo is being transported aboard the refrigerated vessel Greensea Bermeo.

The operation involves significant logistics and labor, impacting more than 200 jobs across stevedoring, land transport, and fishing plant activities. Approximately 150 workers are participating in the maneuvers between the pier and the vessel, supported by 30 trucks transporting the goods to the port terminal.

The shipment consists of various frozen fish species, primarily corvina and pescadilla. The corvina production aligns with the current season off the coast of Buenos Aires, much of which originates from artisanal fishing in Samborombón Bay. Marcos Gutiérrez, president of the Consorcio Portuario Regional Mar del Plata, noted that this direct shipment stimulates foreign trade and local employment.
