Mar del Plata navigation restricted for binational naval exercises
The Argentine Naval Prefecture has issued navigation restrictions near Mar del Plata due to the operational phase of the Binational Exercise Fraterno XXXIX-2026. The maneuvers involve live-fire drills with real weaponry and will bring together assets from the Argentine Navy and the Brazilian Navy.
The exercises are scheduled to take place across six delimited maritime sectors, ranging from areas near the city to more distant offshore zones. The schedule includes activities starting Monday, August 17, in Area 1, followed by maneuvers in various sectors through Wednesday, August 19. Authorities have requested that captains, masters, and ship owners maintain constant monitoring of VHF Channel 16 and follow all maritime notices to ensure the safety of navigation and human life at sea.
