Mar del Plata port begins maritime beacon renewal plan

The Consorcio Portuario Regional Mar del Plata has launched a renewal plan for maritime safety beacons to strengthen nautical security at the Port of Mar del Plata. The project involves replacing existing lighting equipment with modern technology to improve the entry and exit of vessels.

The renewal will be completed in two stages. In the first phase, the consortium is prioritizing the replacement of three of the seven strategic beacons located at Escollera Norte, Escollera Sur, and Escollera de Abrigo. These nautical beacons provide illumination with a range between 6 and 14 miles.

Marcos Gutiérrez, president of the Consorcio Portuario Regional Mar del Plata, stated that maritime safety is a priority and that luminous signaling is a vital element for terminal operations. This initiative is part of broader efforts to optimize dock operations and improve public lighting and road networks within the jurisdiction.
