Mar del Plata shootings spark homicide investigations
In Mar del Plata, two violent attacks have prompted criminal investigations. Twenty‑year‑old Elías Ezequiel Lezcano was shot in the neck by a man described as his "best friend," leaving him permanently paralyzed. The suspect remains at large despite police raids that seized an unregistered revolver, a modified air‑gun, and ammunition, and an accomplice was detained.
Separately, Valentín Lastra, a young man from Olavarría, was assaulted in Playa Grande. Prosecutors have re‑classified the case as attempted homicide and forwarded it to a higher court. The alleged perpetrator, Matías Fay, denies intent, while Lastra’s family demands full legal action. Both incidents are under ongoing investigation by local authorities.
