Mar del Plata traffic accident leaves one dead and five injured

A fatal traffic accident occurred in the Las Avenidas neighborhood of Mar del Plata during the early hours of Saturday. The incident began when a Volkswagen Gol Trend struck a Toyota RAV4 from behind at the intersection of Cerrito and Magallanes.

The impact caused the Toyota RAV4 to lose control, roll over, and mount the sidewalk, where it struck a group of people standing in front of a local grocery store before crashing into the building. One man, identified as 36-year-old Maximiliano Nahuel Vandecaveye, died at the Hospital Interzonal General de Agudos due to severe internal injuries and crushing trauma.

Five other people were injured in the collision, including a 17-year-old and several men aged 18, 21, 30, and 38. The drivers of both vehicles, both 21-year-olds, were uninjured and tested negative for alcohol. Police are conducting investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
