María Camila Potosí murder and baby extraction case in Cali
María Camila Potosí, a 21‑year‑old woman eight months pregnant, was found murdered on 20 July 2026 near the Meléndez River in Cali, Colombia. Her baby, named Alahia, was extracted from her womb and later discovered as human remains in a forested area near the river; forensic analysis is confirming the identity.
Five suspects were arrested, including Yulieth Angulo, who is alleged to have pretended to be pregnant to gain the victim’s trust and to have coordinated the kidnapping, murder and removal of the baby. The prosecution says the group was paid about 4 million Colombian pesos for the crime. The suspects have been charged with aggravated femicide, kidnapping, forced disappearance and evidence tampering and placed in preventive detention while the investigation continues.
