María de los Ángeles García Rescalvo faces judicial case over alleged labor harassment as SAS manager

María de los Ángeles García Rescalvo was appointed manager of the Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) on 17 July 2024. A judge in Granada, Rosa María Ginel Pretel, opened an abbreviated investigative procedure against her for alleged administrative prevarication and labor‑harassment offences. The investigation stems from her suspension of a 2020 selective recruitment process for a senior position at Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in Granada and the opening of a new case in 2024 against one of the original applicants.

Andalusian government sources told EFE that the matter has already been archived twice and they expect a definitive closure, insisting it is a personnel issue rather than a corruption case. The defence argued the 2020 suspension was due to a COVID‑19 wave that made convening the selection tribunal impossible, a point the prosecutor contested, stating that the evidence does not sufficiently prove any crime and criticizing the lack of clear explanations for the suspension.
