María Dueñas releases new album ‘Homage to Heifetz’

Violinist María Dueñas has released a new album titled ‘Homage to Heifetz’ with Deutsche Grammophon. The project serves as a tribute to the legacy of Jascha Heifetz, a figure who significantly influenced Dueñas’ musical development.

In collaboration with conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, Dueñas performs works that were central to Heifetz’s repertoire, including Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Violin Concerto and Edouard Lalo’s ‘Symphonie espagnole’.

The album also features Debussy’s ‘La fille aux cheveux de lin’ in an orchestral version, alongside several miniatures recorded with pianist Itamar Golan. For certain tracks, Dueñas utilized a 1731 Stradivarius violin previously owned by Heifetz.
