María Fernanda Yepes discusses past friendship with Iván Duque

Actress María Fernanda Yepes has shared details regarding her youth in Bogotá and her friendship with former Colombian President Iván Duque. During an interview on the podcast ‘Me Vale’ with journalist Eva Rey, Yepes recounted how they met during their adolescence in the 1990s.

After moving from Medellín to Bogotá due to the violence occurring in her home city, Yepes described feeling socially isolated at her new school. She noted that Duque was her only friend in the capital during that period. The two bonded over their shared regional origins after Duque approached her at a youth gathering.

Addressing previous political campaign claims where Duque referred to her as a ‘platonic love,’ Yepes clarified that their relationship was strictly platonic and never romantic. She emphasized that there was no courtship or physical intimacy between them, despite the public speculation.
