MARA Holdings acquires 1,292 Bitcoin for $98.6 million

Bitcoin mining company MARA Holdings has acquired 1,292 BTC in a transaction valued at approximately $98.64 million. The purchase was executed through the institutional prime broker FalconX, according to on-chain analytics from Lookonchain.

This acquisition marks a shift in the company’s treasury strategy. Earlier this year, MARA Holdings engaged in significant selling, offloading over 20,000 BTC to fund operational expenses and a strategic expansion into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure. Despite these sales, the company maintains a substantial treasury; it currently holds approximately 35,577 BTC, valued at nearly $2.7 billion at recent market prices.

The move follows a previous accumulation of 1,000 BTC in June, suggesting a transitional period from heavy selling to renewed acquisition.
