Quintana Roo hosts national summit for victim assistance

The Fourth National Update Meeting for Victim Assistance was inaugurated in Cancún, Quintana Roo, bringing together representatives from 19 Mexican states, federal authorities, and civil society organizations. Organized in coordination with the Executive Commission for Victim Assistance (CEAV), the event aims to strengthen institutional coordination and improve strategies for supporting individuals who have suffered crimes or rights violations.

During the opening, Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced that her administration has doubled its investment in victim assistance. She emphasized that public service should focus on providing hope and helping victims rebuild their lives. Government Secretary María Cristina Torres Gómez reported that between January and July 2026, 11,423 assistance measures were granted to 2,229 victims, the majority of whom were women.

Participants, including CEAV Commissioner Martha Yuriria Rodríguez Estrada, will spend two days analyzing challenges such as the protection of children, femicide, human trafficking, and the integral reparation of damages.
