María Pardo, former Santiago de Compostela councilor, passes away

María Pardo, a former city councilor for the Partido Popular in Santiago de Compostela, has passed away. She held significant government responsibilities between 2011 and 2014, serving as the head of Urbanism and as a spokesperson for the local government.

During her tenure, Pardo was involved in urban planning, the development of public spaces such as playgrounds in Plaza de Galicia and Plaza de Vigo, and the municipal management following the Angrois accident in 2013. She resigned from her posts in 2014 alongside other officials during a legal investigation, though all were eventually acquitted in 2015.

Following her political career, Pardo worked as the executive director of administration at the technology consultancy MinData. Local leaders, including Mayor Goretti Sanmartín, have expressed their condolences to her family and colleagues.
