María Teresa Quidiello High School completes rapid earthquake drill
The María Teresa Quidiello High School in Los Alcarrizos successfully evacuated 685 students and staff in just one minute during a National Earthquake Evacuation Drill held this Tuesday. The school operates across two campuses, one three stories high and another two stories high, and the exercise tested the facility's emergency response capabilities.
Eddie Chávez, Director of Regional 15 for the Ministry of Education, stated that the rapid evacuation is the result of year-long planning involving educational authorities, schools, and families. He noted that the preparation process included regional and district teams, as well as school emergency committees.
School Director Evelyn Cuevas added that such drills have been part of the institution's planning for over four years. The school maintains a risk manual and follows a specific academic calendar for these exercises, ensuring parents are notified a week in advance to prepare the educational community.
