María Vargas crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2026
María Vargas, a 28-year-old professional from Jalisco, has been crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2026. The coronation took place on August 29 at Rancho Tierra Sagrada in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, where she emerged victorious from a group of 32 contestants.
Vargas, who holds a degree in International Business and is also an author and entrepreneur, received the crown from outgoing titleholder Fátima Bosch. In addition to the main title, Vargas won the award for Best National Costume, featuring the ‘Cosmos Wixárika’ design by Joel García.
She will represent Mexico at the 75th Miss Universe competition, scheduled for November 24 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Vargas noted that her platform will focus on women's identity and empowerment, aiming to continue the legacy of her predecessor.
