Marabá inaugurates new Creas Carajás social assistance center
The Creas Carajás Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance was officially inaugurated in the Amapá neighborhood of Marabá. The new facility was built from the ground up to strengthen the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) by providing infrastructure to handle medium-complexity cases involving rights violations.
The building includes specialized rooms for listening, legal guidance, pedagogical support, a playroom, and dedicated spaces for technical teams and individual or family consultations. The center's coverage area includes the entire Cidade Nova nucleus and the Estrada do Rio Preto region.
Mayor Toni Cunha stated that the modern equipment is designed to protect and guarantee the rights of vulnerable populations, such as children, adolescents, women, and the elderly. Mônica Thompson, head of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance, emphasized that the structure allows for more humane and qualified professional service for those facing negligence or rights violations.
