Maracaibo hosts Expo Robótica 2026 for youth
The Expo Robótica 2026 took place in Maracaibo, Venezuela, featuring 50 teams of children and young people across junior, debutante, and amateur categories. Held at the Fundacite Zulia facilities, the event focused on fostering innovation, creativity, and scientific curiosity through the design and programming of student-built prototypes.
The initiative was supported by multiple government levels, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Zulia State Government, the Maracaibo Municipality, and Infocentro. Organizers emphasized that the event served as a collaborative simulation of a competition rather than a traditional contest, aiming to encourage idea exchange among students from both public and private schools.
José Larez, president of Fundacite Zulia, noted that Maracaibo has become a hub for robotics, hosting local phases of international competitions such as the World Robot Olympiad. The event also highlighted a strategic alliance with the Venezuelan Robotics Federation to support educational robotics infrastructure in the region.
