Maracaibo mayor inaugurates renovated La Victoria multi‑use sports court

Maracaibo’s municipal government handed over a newly refurbished multi‑use sports court in the La Victoria 3rd stage urbanisation on Tuesday. Mayor Giancarlo Di Martino highlighted the project as part of a broader plan to “humanise” the city by providing dignified spaces for culture, recreation and sport. The work, carried out with the organized Popular Power and the local community group “Golpe de Timón en Victoria,” added basketball hoops, futsal markings, volleyball nets and perimeter fencing that were previously missing.

Local officials and residents praised the upgrade, noting that the area previously lacked basic infrastructure such as lighting, security facilities and a functional field. The court is expected to serve children, youth and senior citizens for a range of activities, from organized games to functional‑exercise sessions. The delivery coincided with other municipal improvements in the parish, including police station repairs, a health clinic renovation and street lighting upgrades.
