La Florida authorities investigate discovery of human remains

Authorities in La Florida, Chile, have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a decomposing human leg at an aggregate extraction site. The remains were found by a worker who observed a dog carrying the limb in its mouth.

The site is located near the border of La Florida and Puente Alto, specifically in the Los Quillayes sector. Specialized units, including the PDI Homicide Brigade and the ECOH Prosecutor's Office, have secured the perimeter to conduct forensic analysis.

Investigators are working to determine the time of death and the method by which the limb was dismembered. Efforts are also underway to search the large, open area for additional skeletal remains.
