Maracaibo police arrest two suspects in elderly man's murder

Authorities in Maracaibo have detained two men, Cristian Daniel Ramírez Velásquez (23) and Diego Moisés Ortega Carrullo (27), in connection with the murder of 73-year-old Isidro Ramírez Gelvez.

Investigations by the Cicpc indicate the crime was motivated by the theft of the victim's belongings. The victim was killed by mechanical asphyxiation using a rope inside his home in the Cassiano Lossada neighborhood.

Following the murder, the suspects allegedly wrapped the body in a hammock and transported it in a public transport vehicle owned by Ramírez Velásquez. The body was later abandoned and discovered in the Buena Vista sector of the Cacique Mara parish. The suspects are currently in custody awaiting judicial proceedings.
