Maracaibo prepares fan zones and events for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Maracaibo’s municipal government, led by mayor Giancarlo Di Martino, announced a series of public activities to celebrate the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. The city will install giant video screens at several locations, including Parque Ana María Campos, to broadcast matches.

A special World Cup‑themed tram route will be launched in partnership with the local tourism office, and the Institute of Municipal Sports and Recreation will host an under‑17 futsal tournament involving 18 parish teams across two venues (Cantaclaro and the Patria Joven Sports Complex). The initiative also highlights the 71‑year anniversary of the Little League of Coquivacoa, with messages from former professional baseball players to youth participants.

These efforts aim to engage residents and visitors, linking local sport culture to the global tournament.
