The trial regarding the death of football legend Diego Armando Maradona is entering its final stages in San Isidro, Argentina. On Tuesday, September 29, key defendants are scheduled to provide new testimony.

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, identified by witnesses as Maradona's primary physician, faces accusations of promoting the home-care treatment that led to the athlete's death. Luque is also accused of neglecting Maradona's cardiac health and ignoring medical warnings from the player's family.

Nancy Forlini, a home care coordinator for Swiss Medical, will also testify. She faces allegations of failing to manage necessary medical equipment and personnel, as well as prohibiting nursing staff from communicating with Maradona's doctors. Evidence suggests she was aware of a cardiac event the night before his death but failed to act.

Maradona died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, while receiving home care near Buenos Aires. Final arguments for the case are expected to begin on October 6.
