Maradona homicide trial hears psychologist audio and nurses' testimony

At the criminal trial investigating the 2020 death of former football star Diego Armando Maradona, prosecutors presented an audio recording from his psychologist Carlos Díaz. The message, sent on 2 November 2020, warned that “Diego is in the last stages, very bad,” and is being used to show the athlete’s critical condition before his move to a private residence.

On 25 June, three nurses who cared for Maradona during his final weeks – Daiana Loreley Cáceres, Aldo Arnez Zenteno and Tamara Débora Mansilla – will testify about the home care they provided after his neurosurgical treatment for a subdural hematoma. The trial also includes testimony from neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, clinical doctor Pedro Di Spagna, Swiss Medical care coordinator Nancy Forlini and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, all charged with homicide by eventual dolus.
