Maramureș: Three Czech tourists fined for illegal motorcycle use

Three Czech citizens were fined a total of 3,000 lei after being caught by mountain gendarmes riding enduro motorcycles illegally in a protected hunting fund near Vârful Roții, Cavnic. The incident occurred at an altitude of approximately 1,216 meters.

The sanctions were issued under Law no. 407/2006 regarding hunting and the protection of the hunting fund. Each individual received a fine of 1,000 lei.

Authorities emphasized that such activities disrupt wildlife habitats. The noise and movement from motorized vehicles can frighten fauna, specifically bears, potentially driving them out of their natural habitats and closer to local human settlements.
