Maranhão Atlético Clube defeats Itabaiana 4-1 in Série C

Maranhão Atlético Clube (MAC) defeated Itabaiana 4-1 at the Castelão Stadium in São Luís during the 18th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. The victory keeps MAC in contention for a spot in the second phase of the tournament.

Maranhão established early dominance, with Jorge scoring in the 5th or 6th minute following a play by Pimentinha. Lucão added a second goal shortly after from a set piece. Felipe Cruz extended the lead to 3-0 in the 24th minute. Itabaiana managed to reduce the deficit through a header by Júlio Henrique, but Rosivan secured the 4-1 victory for MAC with a long-range shot in the second half.

With this result, Maranhão sits in 9th place with 27 points, just one point away from the G-8 qualification zone. Their final match of this initial phase will be against Figueirense in Florianópolis.
