Maranhão Bar Association pushes fee table revision and seeks removal of lawyer Daniel Leite

The president of the Maranhão Bar Association (OAB‑MA), Kaio Saraiva, said the honorarium table published in Resolution 58 does not match the version negotiated by a working group that included the state court, the public defender’s office, the prosecutor’s office and the state attorney‑general. Saraiva announced that OAB‑MA has begun talks with the Tribunal de Justiça do Maranhão to amend the resolution so the agreed table is reflected, while praising the resolution as a milestone for regulating court‑appointed lawyers in the state.

Separately, lawyer Thiago Silva Cruz publicly demanded the immediate suspension of OAB‑MA councilor Daniel Leite, arguing that Leite’s involvement in the Master Bank fraud investigation and the ongoing Operation Sem Desconto makes him morally unfit to remain in the bar’s leadership. Cruz cited Leite’s alleged acquisition of millions of shares in Banco de Brasília through suspicious loans, linking the case to a broader scandal involving the bank’s owner, Daniel Vorcaro.
