Maranhão boosts dialysis capacity and eye‑care program under Vinícius Ferro

At a health plenary in São Luís, candidate for federal deputy Vinícius Ferro highlighted the expansion of Maranhão's public health services. Under the administration of Governor Carlos Brandão, the state increased its hemodialysis network from 279 to 484 chairs, improving renal treatment access for more than 3,000 residents. The "Cuidar dos Olhos" program delivered 70,000 cataract and pterygium surgeries and distributed 315,000 glasses across the state. Additional achievements included the inauguration of new health units, the delivery of 315 ambulances—282 allocated to municipal governments—and continued funding for the public health budget through Vinícius Ferro's work at the State Planning and Budget Secretariat (SEPLAN). Officials such as Health Secretary Liliane Neves, Hospital Carlos Macieira director Dr. Edilson Medeiros, and program coordinator Kallyne Bezerra praised the coordinated effort to strengthen the state's health infrastructure.
