Amazonas Electoral Court suspends Instituto Veritá poll
The Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE-AM) has suspended a political poll conducted by Instituto Veritá regarding the upcoming elections for governor and senator. The decision, issued by Judge Anagali Marcon Bertazzo, follows a challenge by the União pelo Amazonas coalition.
The court identified several methodological irregularities in the survey, which was conducted between July 28 and August 1, 2026. Key issues included the failure to specify exact neighborhoods in certain municipalities, such as Apuí, where the institute simply used the generic term “all neighborhoods” instead of delimiting specific census sectors. This lack of detail was deemed to hinder the ability to inspect the sample distribution.
Additionally, the court noted discrepancies between the institute's sampling plan and the actual questionnaire used during interviews. The suspension remains in effect until a definitive ruling is made on the representation, with a daily fine of R$ 10,000 imposed for non-compliance.
