Maranhão Governor Announces Major Road and Bridge Projects

Governor Carlos Brandão highlighted a series of infrastructure works across Maranhão, stressing their long‑term impact on mobility, the regional economy and integration. Projects cited include the recovery of MA‑247 in São Luís Gonzaga, duplication of MA‑320 between Santa Inês and Pindaré‑Mirim, a new highway linking Pirapemas, Matões do Norte and Cantanhede, and the Travessia da Baixada, which will cut travel time to São Luís by more than three hours.

The administration also noted the completion of MA‑372 (Mirador‑São Domingos do Azeitão), the construction of a bridge over the Rio Preguiças, the Nova Litorânea, Avenida Metropolitana, Estrada da Raposa, Estrada do Abacaxi and the rehabilitation of MA‑014. A service order was signed to pave MA‑040, connecting Timon to Matões, and the "caminho dos Poetas" linking Guimarães to Praia da Araoca was inaugurated, marking further progress for the state's western coast.
