Maranhão judicial system initiatives and staffing requests

The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) in Maranhão has formally requested that the Maranhão Court of Justice (TJMA) fill 18 vacant positions at the Açailândia Forum. The vacancies include six judicial analysts in law, one psychologist, eight judicial technicians/assistants, and three court officers. OAB officials expressed concern that the shortage of personnel could delay legal proceedings and increase the workload for existing staff.

Separately, the TJMA is conducting a mobile conciliation project titled ‘Conciliação Itinerante’. Through a specialized bus, the court is providing free legal services to residents in Morros, Icatu, Rosário, and Itapecuru-Mirim. Services offered include consensual divorce, dissolution of stable unions, spontaneous paternity recognition, DNA collection, and debt renegotiation, aiming to resolve conflicts without requiring citizens to travel to traditional courts.
