Maranhão launches public exams for over 1,100 police and penitentiary posts

The Maranhão State government announced two public recruitment contests organized by Cebraspe. The first, a Penal contest, offers 1,059 vacancies across roles such as prison‑assistants, penal police inspectors, resocialisation monitors, specialists and technicians, with starting salaries of up to R$8,600. Application windows vary by position, ranging from late July to mid‑September, and written exams are scheduled for mid‑December.

A separate contest for Civil Police Delegates opens on 20 July, providing 58 immediate vacancies at a salary of R$22,820.23. Candidates must register online by 13 August, pay a R$250 fee (with several exemption categories) and meet legal qualifications. The objective test is set for 1 November, with a reserve list of 174 additional spots.
