Maranhão police arrest three suspects in 6.1-ton beef theft

The Civil Police of Maranhão have concluded an investigation into the theft of approximately 6.1 tons of beef that occurred on January 30 near the Estiva Fiscal Post in São Luís. The investigation, led by the Department of Combatting Cargo Theft, identified eight individuals involved in various stages of the criminal operation, including the approach to the vehicle, transport, distribution, and resale of the stolen goods.

Following the conclusion of the inquiry, the judiciary authorized the preventive arrest of three primary suspects responsible for driving the vehicle, financing the logistics, and managing the distribution of the meat. One of the suspects was already in custody for an unrelated homicide investigation.
